Clockwise from Left:
A laminated card, which was copied from a card that my grandmother apparently always carried with her. It reads: I shall pass through this world but once, If therefore there be any kindness I can show or any good thing I can do let me do it now. Let me not defer it nor neglect it, for I shall not pass this way again. More a testament to the character of my lovely grandmother than any kind of guideline in my life, I’ll be the first to admit.
The fortunes –
You think that it is a secret, but it never has been.
A pleasant surprise is waiting for you.
Your heart will always make itself known through your words. (I definitely communicate better through the written word.)
The great pleasure in life is doing what people say you cannot do.
You are heading for a land of sunshine. (California? or is this irony and really means Scotland?)

Oops I almost forgot the Nietzsche quote that I tore out of an issue of The L Magazine, back in college – “We have art in order not to die of the truth.”
