Naked Juice has announced that they are planning to transition their entire product line to 100 percent post-consumer recycled bottles – reNEWabottles to be precise – in 2010! The change over will begin this month as they convert all of their 32 ounce (recyclable, of course) bottles. This is actually a monumental step, making Naked the first nationally-distributed brand to transition to a completely recycled or polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottle!
From the official press release:
“The initial 32 ounce bottle transition reduces virgin plastic consumption by 1 million pounds per year and oil use by 8,192 barrels every year (the rough equivalent of taking 497 cars off of the road).
When Naked Juice finishes transitioning its entire line, virgin plastic consumption will be reduced by 8.1 million pounds per year, saving 57,000 barrels of oil every year (the equivalent of taking 3,460 cars off of the road).”
Other companies could stand to take a lesson from Naked Juice, who already create amazing sugar and preservative-free, 100% fruit drinks without any artificial coloring! How many other companies care about the ingredients and the packaging? Just another reason to love this product and this company with a conscience!
