Eco Index for Shopping with a Conscience

I really hope this takes off. According to a Wall Street Journal article, there is a rating system for clothing in the works, called Eco Index, somewhat like the Energy Star rating used for appliances. About 100 retailers, that most people have heard of (like Levi’s), have already been involved in the development of this new environmental impact labeling for a few years now. Of course, there are probably tons of companies that are irked about this concept, not wanting their dirty laundry aired. It’s no coincidence that luxury brands have not hopped on board with this yet.
